2026 Silicon Valley Music Competition
SILICON VALLEY PHILHARMONIC Orchestra is proudly announcing the opening of the “2026 Silicon Valley Music Competition” in the Bay Area to inspire and support our local young musicians for their experience and courage.
There are 3 competition school groups, Elementary(1-5th), Middle(6-8th), and High(9-12th) by school grade and instrumental classes including Piano, Woodwinds, Strings and Ensemble for competing musical talents. After the competition, Grand, 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and Honors Place performers by instrumental classes in each school group are chosen for Certificate and Prize. Also the top scored performers of each school group will be honored and posted as “The Grand Place Winner of the Year 2026” and awarded Scholarship as well as performance opportunities for the future events of Silicon Valley Philharmonic Orchestra. 2026 Competition is open as an online format.

▪ ONLINE COMPETITION and VIDEO SUBMISSION RULES
1. Applicants can choose a movement of classical music pieces and perform to the end without repeat. For Solo Competition, fast movement of standard concertos or sonatas are suggested performing up to 10 minutes. In addition for Ensemble Competition, up to 12 minutes, arrangement of standard pieces or World Premiere pieces are acceptable.
2. No return your application, score, or fee. You can change your repertoire anytime even after submitting your application.
3. Each player for an ensemble team has to submit an application individually.
4. Accompaniment is required for online competition unless originally composed with no accompaniment.
5. Although we recommend memorizing the piece, it’s not mandatory. You may use a music stand, not blocking your performance.
6. Please produce your video recording clearly including your whole upper body, face, both hands, bows and instruments. And additionally both feet for cello and piano. Make the best angle. Better quality makes better results.
7. Please wear formal attire. All Grand Place Winners’ videos will be linked on our website to the public.
8. No pause, stop or edit the video recording is permitted.
9. To avoid reusing or sharing the video with other competitions, you have to verbally mention that "This is a video recording to apply for the 2026 Silicon Valley Music Competition." at the beginning of the recording as well as introducing your name, school grade, musical instrument and the title of the music piece followed by your performance.
10. Upload your video recording to YouTube and send us an email with the link as privacy of "UNLISTED".
11. Your YouTube video link submission is by Saturday, April 4, 2026 at 11:59 pm. No video can be accepted after then.
12. Please always put your name and instrument on the title of your video and email.
13. No winner might be chosen depending on performance. The results by the judges are final with no appeal.
14. The Grand Place winners of last year’s competition are not acceptable to apply to the same instrumental class of the same school group.
15. There is $95 of late fee for submitting application after application deadline, March 21, 2026.

· For the competition, Grand, 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and Honors places are chosen and given Award Certificate and Souvenir by instrumental classes in each school group.
· The Top Grand Place Winner of High School Group: Award Certificate with $300 Scholarship
· The Top Grand Place Winner of Middle School Group: Award Certificate with $200 Scholarship
· The Top Grand Place Winner of Elementary School Group: Award Certificate with $100 Scholarship
· The Top Grand Place Winner of Ensemble Category: Award Certificate with $200 Scholarship
